Audition Requirements - Year 2000

Voice:
A program consisting of an opera aria and an oratorio selection (both to be sung in the original key), plus one selection from each of the following classifications:

    Italian song or aria written before 1800
    German lied
    French art song
    Contemporary English or American song
    Song cycle (at least four selections)

A minimum of four languages must be included. All music must be memorized.

Instrumental:
A program consisting of four works from the standard concert repertoire, one from each of the following periods of music:

    Baroque
    Classic
    Romantic or Impressionistic
    Contemporary - post 1910

One work should be a complete sonata of at least three movements, or a complete suite.
One work should be a movement of a concerto from the standard repertoire
All works other than accompanied sonatas shall be memorized

Piano:
A program consisting of of four works from the standard concert repertoire, one from each of the following four periods of music:

    Baroque
    Classic
    Romantic or Impressionistic
    Contemporary - post 1910

One work should be a complete sonata of at least three movements, or a complete suite.
All works other than accompanied sonatas shall be memorized

Pipe Organ:
A program consisting of of four works from the standard concert repertoire, one from each of the following four periods of music:

    Baroque
    Classic
    Romantic or Impressionistic
    Contemporary - post 1910

One work should be a complete sonata of at least three movements, or a complete suite.
All works other than accompanied sonatas shall be performed from memory.

Composition:
A total of twenty minutes of original composition, consisting of at least two differing performance combinations, submitted by means of a tape.
CLEAR READABLE SCORES MUST ACCOMPANY THE TAPE.
These must be received no later than March 15 for the Preliminary auditions, or April 27 for the FINAL auditions.
