Carolyn Lee - age 16, is a sophomore at Westview High
School. Her musical studies began on the piano at the age of
3, shortly followed by violin a year later. She currently studies
violin with Michael and Irina Tseitlin. Previous teachers include
Henry Gronnier and Julia Cser. Carolyn has won many awards such
as; 1st place Alternate MTAC State VOCE Competition senior division
2010, 1st Place MTAC Concerto Competition 2010, 2nd Place Goodlin
Scholarship Competition 2010, 1st Place MTAC VOCE chamber music
senior division 2009, 3rd Place MTAC State VOCE Competition
junior division 2008.
Carolyn performed at Copley Symphony Hall in June 2010, was
a finalist in the San Diego Symphony Hot Shots Competition,
and given the “Rising Star” award in the 2010 La Jolla Symphony
Young Artists Competition. In 2009, she was awarded a full scholarship
upon attending the Viana Do Castelo International Music Festival
and appointed as Concertmistress of the festival symphony. She
has held the position of Assistant Concertmistress of the San
Diego Youth Symphony since 2008, having previously held the
position of Concertmistress of the San Diego Youth Symphony
Sinfonia. In the future, she plans to include studying science
with her music and violin performance studies.
