Colorado born tenor Christian Sanders holds a Bachelor of Arts
Degree Magna Cum Laude in Music with a Cell and Molecular Biology
Minor from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California,
and has been hailed as having a “voice whose color belies his
age. Someone to watch” (SanDiego.com) While attending PLNU,
Mr. Sanders has sung the leading roles of Tamino in Die Zauberflöte,
Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, and Prince Charmant in Cendrilllon
with Point Loma Opera Theater and has been the tenor soloist
in Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Magnificat, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasie,
Bruckner’s Te Deum, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the Point
Loma Choral Union. Additionally, he has appeared as guest soloist
with the San Diego Mormon Choir and Orchestra and as the tenor
soloist in Mozart's Coronation Mass with the San Diego Festival
Chorus, in a live televised concert. A member of the Associated
Guild of Musical Artists, Christian has appeared with the San
Diego Opera for three seasons in the choruses of Rigoletto,
Madama Butterfly, La Traviata, Faust, and Der Rosenkavalier.
This summer he will be performing the roles of Arabace in Idomeneo,
Tapioca in L’Etoiles, and Laurie in Little Women with the Opera
Academy of California in San Francisco.
Christian is a scholarship recipient of the Opera Buffs Inc.,
appearing in the organization’s fall showcase at Zipper Hall
in Los Angeles. A first-place winner in the Lower-Collegiate
Division of the National Association of Teachers of Singing
Young Artist Competition and Finalist in the 2010-2011 Classical
Singer Magazine National Competition, Christian is also the
recipient of the Robert Faulk Encouragement Award and the D.
Greiner Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera National
Council Auditions. Fall 2011 he begins work on a Masters in
Vocal Arts at the Thornton School of Music at USC.
