James Romeo - began studying the flute with his mother
at age 10. He made his solo debut in 2004, performing for the
La Jolla Music Society’s prelude young artist series. In 2008,
he made his solo orchestral debut with the Roosevelt University
Orchestra playing the Nielsen Concerto. He has participated
in many competitions, winning second place in the 2011 San Diego
Flute Guild Young Artist Competition, first place at the 2011
Tuesday Musical Association in Ohio competition, and has been
a previous winner with the Musical Merit Foundation in 2006
and 2009.
Studying under Thomas Robertello, James attended the Jacobs
School of Music at Indiana University, earning a Bachelor of
Music in Flute in 2009. He has spent recent summers studying
a the Indiana University Summer Music Festival, the Kent-Blossom
Music Festival, and the Orford Festival in Quebec. He is currently
pursuing a Master of Music in Flute under Joshua Smith at the
Cleveland Institute of Music.
