Ji Eun (Lisa) Kim began to play the violin at the age
of 5. She studies at the Juilliard School with Hyo Kang and
David Chan. Ms. Kim has won many awards including the La Jolla
Young Artists competition in 2004 and 2005, Women’s Committee
GCCA Scholarship Auditions in 2005, the Goodlin Scholarship
competition, and previous Musical Merit Foundation awards in
2005 and 2010.
After winning the San Diego Symphony concerto competition,
she performed Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy with the San Diego Symphony.
She has also been a solo performer with the Grossmont Symphony,
the Saratoga Symphony, the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, the
San Diego Youth Symphony, the San Diego Youth Philharmonia,
and the San Diego Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Kim has served as the
concertmaster of the San Diego Youth Symphony and the Chamber
Orchestra with Music Academy of the West. She has studied with
Paul Kantor, Robert Mcduffie, and Hyo Kang, and participated
in master classes with Gil Shaham, Pamela Frank, Joel Smirnoff,
and Robert Mcduffie. Ms. Kim attended Aspen Music Festival and
School in 2004 and 2005, Great Mountains Music Festival 2007,
Music Academy of the West in 2008, Schleswig Holstein music
festival 2009, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival 2010, and Moritzburg
Chamber Music Festival 2011.
After receiving her Bachelor of Music degree in May 2011, she
will be continueing at the Juilliard School for her Masters
degree.
